KRAVE® Doesn’t Sell E-cigs to Minors

The FDA’s amendment to regulate electronic cigarettes is tied up in the political process. Instead of waiting for this FDA to provide the e-cig industry with standards, we are taking matters into our own hands. KRAVE® doesn’t market or sell electronic cigarettes to minors.

In the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2011-2012 surveys on Tobacco Product Use Among Middle and High School Students contained some alarming results. The report focused on 284 schools, of which 228 participated in the survey. In 2012, 6.7% of middle school students and 23.3% of high school students admitted to using tobacco products. Of the 11 tobacco products listed 1.1% of middle school students admitted to using e-cigarettes and 2.8% of high school students said they use e-cigs.

Electronic cigarette use among middle and high school students increased from 2011 to 2012. In 2011, the data showed that 0.6% of middle school students used electronic cigarettes and 1.5% of high school students used e-cigs. While this data represents only a small portion of middle and high school students in the United States, KRAVE® takes this information to heart.*

We ID

Customers who visit our website are required to enter their date of birth before they can purchase any KRAVE® products. We also encourage retailers that sell our products in stores not to sell KRAVE® e-cigarettes to minors and to ask for age identification from their customers.

Our Marketing Techniques Target Adults

Most children and adults have something in common, both like candy. During our rebranding process we did a lot of research and learned how to make our products more appealing to adults and less appealing to children.

Kids like colorful pictures, which is why we choose not to add images of fruit and candy on our packaging. The clean and simple design on the KRAVE® website and packaging is much more appealing to adults than children. KRAVE® makes a conscience effort to design ads that are specifically targeted to adults.

Tips On Keeping E-cigs Away From Children

Hide your KRAVE® e-cig when you are around children to keep it out of their reach. If something is out of site, it is often out of mind too.

If you own a store that sells KRAVE® products, remind your employees to card people who want to purchase KRAVE® electronic cigarettes from your store. It takes a village to raise a child. When kravers work together we will be able to prevent minors from using KRAVE® e-cigs.
